Melanie Fiona Is Giving It To Us Right
It seems as though everyone in the Neo-Soul world has taken note of Melanie Fiona—so it’s about time for The Glit to do the same.
Fiona first sparked our interest with her first single “Give It To Me Right,” but when we took a closer look we saw that Fiona had more vintage soul treasures on her debut album The Bridge. And while the album is not a debut masterpiece, it has a raw quality that the industry welcomes—and needs.
Her vocals create a ‘bridge’ between new school R&B pop and classic soul. And what we love most about Melanie Fiona is that she is no one note. Tracks like ”Walk On By” take us to church a bit with its southern gospel feel. While tracks like “Sad Songs” tap into her Carribean roots. The album paints the perfect picture of Fiona’s young yet soulful persona.
Our favorites are “You Stop My Soul” and—of course—her latest release “It Kills Me.”
