Fashion FYI: Spend the Summer in Seersucker…

Spend the Summer in Seersucker

There are certain things that one must not go without during the summer season–sandals, shorts, and something Seersucker. This summer, there are some fun and stylish ways to incorporate the traditional spring/summer fabric into your wardrobe.

Let’s start with the basics…
Seersucker shorts, skirts, dresses, slacks, and rompers  never go out of style. They’re easy to find in stores like American Eagle, Hollister, or J. Crew, they’re lightweight…easy breezy, wrinkle-free, and there are so many ways to dress these classic pieces up or down–making them a summer staple.

But, if you want to spruce up your Seersucker swag—you might want to go with a Silk Seersucker.
This season, designers like Diana von Furstenburg and Roland Mouret applied the classic rippled woven texture found in cotton Seersucker to Silk.

This Silk/Cotton Seersucker dress definitely makes the classic cotton Seersucker  a bit more chic.

Fitted Seersucker Cap by New Era

But brands like New Era and Supra are making Seersucker fitting for the streets. New Era recently released a collection of seersucker fitted caps for the fellas.

In keeping with their popular footwear line, Supra introduced its new  ‘Pilot’ Seersucker Sneaker slated to be released in July. These high-top kicks and New Era’s fitted  are a good look with deniums and a polo shirt.

But if I had to chose a Seersucker signature piece, it would have to be a Blazer. Seersucker Blazers give any outfit a  preppy, yet summery and fun appeal. Balenciaga’s SS ’10 double breasted Seersucker Blazer is definitely one of my favorites with white denims and a Tee…oh and don’t forget to roll up the sleeves.

And for the very preppy Seersucker seeker, a sporty SS ’10 bowtie by Alexander Olch might be a simple solution.

Last, but definitely not least, I had to add these vintage Christian Louboutin slingbacks. They’re from the SS ’08 collection, but no other designer has made a Seersucker Stiletto as sexy since…oldies, but goodies…
