Home to some of the hottest rising musical talent, the DMV (Washington, DC, Maryland, & Virginia) area, is continuing to break barriers daily; bridging the gap of hate and division. Fortunately the tri-areas rap for being known as “crabs in a barrel” is slowly but surely taking on the role of brotherly love—at least within the music community.
Not saying the DMV has found a complete anecdote to their “every man for himself” mentality, but we are making progress, and progress is good. We are witnessing more and more acts of togetherness, from an increase in artist collaborations and overall support, to historical happenings such as DMV day (a day where over 200 DMV artists, dancers, DJ’s and other entertainment notables, stood before the Lincoln theatre for a historic photo shoot.

Another perfect example of the DMV unity is the Cool Kids Forever Films movement. A full film production company based out of Washington, DC, CKF Films is dedicated to bringing the music of DMV artists to life through video. CKF Films is responsible for shooting some of the best music videos for quite a few artists from the DMV area—even getting many of them aired on major television networks such as BET, MTV &VH1. Shot and directed by some of the most dynamic directors (Tabi Bonney, Six Shoota, & Backie T), CKF Films has produced music videos for artist like Tabi Bonney, Raheem Devaughn, Wale, Haziq Ali, Phil Ade and many more.
Cool Kids Forever Films Video Release Showcase 9/21
On September 21, 2010, the film production company will continue their movement as they bring the DMV entertainment scene all together for a one night only affair. On that night, CKF Films will host a star-studded, red carpet video release showcase and party at DC hotspot Policy. They will debut not one, but 4 new videos from various rising DMV artists on the same night. This gives an opportunity for different DMV music camps to be united all for a great cause…A display of artistry! It doesn’t get any more beautiful than that…teardrop. LOL!
