Just when you thought the bluesy, sultry and commanding voices from past decades have seemingly died out, Melanie David is someone who offers a breath of soul to revitalize the world of R&B. Hailing from the inner city of Boston, this R&B songbird was able to transcend the negative aspects of society, through her love and admiration of music. Not only does Melanie lend her talent to music as a singer and songwriter, she is also an actress, appearing in such plays as; “He’ll Work It Out” and “Introducing Harry Warren”.
A woman of many hats, Melanie has created a brand of philanthropy by way of the David Martins Peace Foundation. Almost 1 year ago, Melanie lost her brother David Martins to violence. She began this foundation not only as a result of his murder, but as an optimistic resolution to unnecessary violence. “I refuse to let this loss [her brother’s] be in vain. If his story can help one other person, than I have accomplished greatness. I charge you all to turn negative situations into positive ones, for this is the true test for any person. You are capable and I believe in you!” to quote the songstress. Melanie’s song “One” derives from the existence of this aforementioned violence, a melancholy yet powerful track that hints at change.

Melanie is the embodiment of effervescent beauty intertwined with an obvious passionate love for music. She is reminiscent of the many greats whom she’s also inspired by, like Anita Baker, Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton, just to name a few. She is currently in the process of putting together her debut EP album featuring production from The Beat Bangaz and Steff Nasty. Melanie is also working with Gordon Chambers, who wrote the number 1 hit “I Apologize” for Anita Baker. Melanie David is a very talented young lady and with great vocal ability. Her new single “Waiting” is currently in circulation, and has us all doing just that, waiting.
